God's amazing grace was on display Sunday June 4th at Harrisonville City Park in the heart of Cass County, Missouri. It has been three years since we have been able to worship the LORD unincumbered in the Harrisonville City Park. In 2022 the park was closed for renovation. In 2021 we had church in the park, but it wasn't the same as we were still bound by COVID protocol. 2020 the park was closed for such events due to the COVID crisis.
God provided a glorious, bright sunny day for Sunday's service. The humidity was bearable with a light breeze to keep us cool in the shade of the trees the lined the perimeter of the amphitheater. Many brought tents or umbrellas to stay cool in the shade as well. There were nearly 200 gathered and about 15-20% of those were not church members of Heartland Baptist Fellowship. For some in our community, the service is an annual event they look forward to as they serve the Lord in their local church. However, there are many who attended who are not churched at all. One young lady prayed to receive Christ as her LORD and Savior which is worth all the effort of relocating to the park for this service.
There were a lot of heavy lifters that made this day possible. The Branhams and Stovalls organized he meal. They had a small army working to feed all the folks that showed up. The menu included hamburgers, Hot dogs, chips and a beverage of your choice. Just right for a meal in the park! A special thanks to Ed Bylina and the Harrisonville Sonic Drive-in. Sonic was very gracious in helping provide the meat for the cookout.
Rex Fugate and his mighty team of ushers and greeters covered the expanse of the park as about 30 guests received a welcome back with a bible at the beginning of the service. Bob Hall and his altar workers also fanned out across the park to help those who responded to the altar call. Before the event Luke Fleshman and Brianna Blowers worked hard to organize and promote the event. Ray Blowers and the AV team did a great job of executing with rented equipment. The praise band, led by James Horton did a great job of exalting the LORD as they led us through five songs of praise and worship before the preaching.
The message was taken from Judges 2:6-13. It was called Delivering Hope. We saw the distinctions between a Faithful, Faithless and Failing Generation and how God delivered them by his amazing grace and mercy. God uses the most obscure people and circumstances to bring about great victory through his power and grace.
