Heartland Baptist Fellowship (HBF) has a rich history, as evidenced by those who have gone before us. We're built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets; Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone, as stated in Ephesians 2:20. The truth HBF adheres to is the same truth delivered to the apostles who were eyewitnesses of Christ's majesty. HBF was born from the ministry of the Kansas City Baptist Temple (KCBT) as an act of obedience to God, fulfilling the Biblical commandment to His local church.
Matthew 28:19 states “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” This commandment is literally being fulfilled through the ministry of KCBT, and HBF is the fruit of God’s labor. Heeding the call to prepare himself to pastor the flock of God, Brian Hedges entered KCBT's Bible Institute in 1994.
After serving God as a circuit preacher and ministry head of KCBT's City Union Mission ministry he obeyed the call to plant a church in the heart of Cass County, Missouri. On January 6, 2002, HBF held its first service. Pastor Hedges, along with a small group of believers from Cass County, started meeting at the Harrisonville Christian School. God has blessed the ministry of HBF as it has stayed true to its commitment to "Equip Saints to Accomplish God's Mission". The church has grown and expanded to its own facility located at 21203 E. 283rd Street.
Brian and his wife, Amy, are simply giving to others the life that has been poured into them through the faithful saints who discipled and trained them at KCBT. It was Brian’s vision to establish a Bible believing church that would be faithful to accomplishing the great commission until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is through the power and grace of God that He established, energizes and continues to build and expand the ministry of HBF to touch the world with the life-changing message of the gospel.
It’s our prayer that every member and ministry of HBF bring honor and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ.
