Beginning in chapter 5 and extending into Chapter 6, Paul turns his attention to the next significant issue of carnality in the church at Corinth. Carnality had formed into a tolerance for sin and the immoral nature of the sin of one man in particular highlighted the depths to which the church had descended. Paul rebukes the church for the man’s sin and also for the church’s sin in failing to purge sin from the church in order to be pure and blameless in the world.
