How does a man from Harrisonville take an admonition from a guest speaker at the Vision Conference, and less than 24 months later turn it into an online following of more than 25,000 people who receive daily devotions? God, of course.
It was at the 2015 Vision Conference when HBF’s Del Litle heard Dale Money, of Bearing Precious Seed Ministry in Milford, Ohio, speak. Money told those in attendance that the word of God needed to be delivered in mass quantities to the world. Litle was led to do just that, so he asked HBF Pastor Brian Hedges how he might accomplish that. Hedges suggested using social media – it was free and available to anyone with an Internet connection.
Litle started publishing daily devotionals on his Facebook page. Most of Litle’s postings are Bible verses, word for word, from the King James Version. Litle will include a passage or several verses on a topic, along with a one or two-sentence explanation of that verse. Before long, Litle had reached the 5,000-friend limit on Facebook, so he created a second page. That one got to 5,000 friends, so he created a third. Then a fourth, and finally a fifth. In all, 25,000 Facebook friends receiving God’s word every day (and counting).
All of this is impressive. Even more so when you consider what Del has overcome in his life. If you are not familiar with Del’s story, take some time to listen to Del’s testimony from the Unshackled Radio show.
“I started the page as a way to encourage people,” Litle said after church at HBF on a March morning. “I am not very technologically advanced. People complain about the evils of social media. I saw it as a chance to use it for the glory of God.”
People from all over the world, including Vietnam, Mexico, China, Thailand, Europe and elsewhere in Asia, receive Litle’s postings.
“I can’t pronounce all the names,” he said. “I want my life to encourage others. God saved me, he’ll save you because His word says so. I take this very personally. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11).
Litle doesn’t know how big or where the simple act of posting Bible verses and a few comments on Facebook will go, but he does know why he does it – to honor God. “First Corinthians says that we are to honor God with everything that we do. I just want to honor and serve God,” he said.
I Corinthians 10:31 – “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
